Description
This is a depiction of the Bounty, a tall ship designed and built in 1960. It was fashioned after the HMS Bounty, of sea-going legend and literature. This replica was used in the movie, "Mutiny on the Bounty" starring Marlon Brando, and sailed periodically from Halifax, Nova Scotia to New York. In 2012, the captain took a young crew on the Bounty to sail to Florida, and was trying to avoid Hurricane Sandy. This is a depiction "before the storm". The ship became a victim of Sandy, and Captain Walbridge and a miss Christian perished in the seas off the coast of North Carolina. This scene depicts the hope and joy of sailing off into a beautiful sunset the day before encountering the storm.
