Description
Winchester Arboretum Barracks:
Winchester, Virginia had played a part in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. By 1779, the number of British prisoners held in Winchester had increased so much that it was decided to build a larger prison. A barracks was built four miles west of Winchester to hold these prisoners whose number had increased to 1,600 by the year 1781. The stairway has a mysterious or even haunting feeling in early morning or late afternoon.
